Why we love photographing weddings at Hubbard's Farm: A guest blog by Photographers Lisa and Neil
Driving through the idyllic Norfolk countryside on a summer’s day, I thought to myself, “it’s a nice day for a white wedding” (I should have sung it really). We had been looking forward to photographing a wedding at Hubbard’s farm for quite some time. We knew as a venue, they were fairly new to the wedding world, and so, we weren’t sure what to expect. Spoiler alert: we were blown away.
We’ve been to tons of weddings in and around Norfolk. Around 400 to be exact, across the span of 12 years, so we like to think we know what we’re talking about. As Norfolk wedding photographers, we’re always excited to discover venues that truly stand out, and here we’re sharing what makes Hubbard’s Farm such a joy to photograph.
Where was I? Oh yeah, driving through the idyllic Norfolk countryside. Sometimes, finding a rural wedding venue (or any venue to be honest) can feel a little daunting: narrow lanes, limited signage, and the inevitable question of whether you’re in the right place. That wasn’t the case at Hubbard’s Farm. It was clearly signposted, easy to find, and with plenty of parking on arrival. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile and a friendly wave from Inez (one of the joint owners), which leads us neatly onto our first point.
1. A family-run venue with gently hands-on owners
Hubbard’s Farm is run by Inez (and if you’re a Swiftie like me, you may now have “Betty” playing in your head) and Rob, a husband-and-wife team just like us, who are clearly passionate about what they’ve created. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that the owners are genuinely involved. Not just behind the scenes, but right there on the day, making sure everything runs smoothly.
So often, you never actually see venue owners. Instead, you’ll work with wedding coordinators who change every season – or every time you email the venue (which is completely understandable given how demanding the role is). That’s why it felt genuinely refreshing to experience a family-run wedding venue where the same people are present, invested, and involved, and we honestly can’t think of another venue in Norfolk that’s run in quite the same way.
Inez greeted us on arrival, introduced herself, and took the time to show us around the entire site. This was a breath of fresh air and so unheard of. If I’m honest, it took me by surprise but in a good way. That kind of personal welcome immediately sets the tone for the day.
From a photographer’s point of view, having hands-on owners who know the space inside out makes a huge difference. Questions are answered quickly, timings run smoothly, and there’s a real sense that everyone is working together to create the best possible experience for the couple.
2. A choice of beautiful outdoor spaces
As Inez was showing us around, we loved how many different outdoor spaces there were. A lot of our couples are camera-shy, and photographing them in front of all of their guests can sometimes feel a bit… awkward. During our tour, we immediately knew there were plenty of options to gently step away from the hustle and bustle, without ever feeling like we were disappearing off-site and for long periods of time (which is such a big deal).
Whether it was tucked-away pockets of greenery, quieter corners of the grounds, or more open spaces with beautiful backdrops, there’s a real choice here. For those who know us will know we love a good tree, so it’s probably no surprise that we were immediately drawn to the forest area. There really is something here for every photographer. That flexibility makes such a difference on a wedding day, especially for couples who want relaxed, natural photos without feeling like they’re on display.
From a photographer’s point of view, having multiple outdoor areas also means you’re not relying on just one spot. If the light changes, the weather shifts, or timings move slightly (as they always do), there are always great alternatives close by.
3. A venue that feels homely
There’s something about Hubbard’s Fam that makes people instantly relax. It doesn’t feel formal or intimidating. Instead, it feels warm, welcoming and comfortable. The sort of place that makes you want to take off your shoes.
That feeling has a huge impact on how your wedding day unfolds and what your wedding photos will look like. When people feel at ease, they stop thinking about the camera altogether. That’s when we can quietly capture the real interactions, the in-between moments, and the atmosphere of the day as it actually felt. Hubbard’s Farm really lends itself to our style of photography.
4. Getting ready on site, without the rush
Being able to get ready on site instantly removes a huge layer of stress from the morning. There’s no rushing between locations, no worrying about timings or traffic and no feeling like you’re already behind before the day has even begun.
Hubbard’s Farm offers plenty of options for getting ready, which means couples can choose what works best for them and their plans for the day. For Ellie, the bridal suite she got ready in was a real standout. It was spacious, filled with beautiful natural light, and, most importantly, it felt comfortable and calm. Very much a home-from-home.
From a photography point of view, that kind of space makes such a difference. There’s room to move, to breathe, and to capture those quieter moments as they unfold naturally. When the morning feels unhurried and settled, it sets the tone for the rest of the day. Here, Hubbard’s Farm gets that balance just right.
5. A venue that works in all weather
At first glance, Hubbard’s Farm looks like a primarily outdoor venue. Living in England, that thought alone can sometimes cause a bit of panic. While we were lucky enough to avoid rain on Ellie and Liam’s day, it was clear that if the weather had turned, everything would still have run smoothly.
Hubbard’s Farm has several charming barns and covered areas (hello stretch tent) that work beautifully as ceremony spaces, sheltered backdrops, and ideal spots for family photos. Rather than feeling like a last-minute compromise, these spaces feel intentional, rustic, and very much part of the venue’s character.
It’s reassuring to know that couples don’t need to rely on a single Plan A. Whatever the weather decides to do, there are thoughtful, practical options that keep the day relaxed and the photos just as lovely.
6. A peaceful, private setting with no noise worries
Ellie and Liam kicked off the evening celebrations with a band. Specifically, Liam’s band. Which we know was a really important part of the day for them. Choosing a venue with a truly private setting meant they could do that without worrying about sound restrictions or cutting the music short.
At some venues, noise limiters are in place, meaning sound levels are monitored and can be automatically cut if they go over a certain level. That wasn’t a concern here. Hubbard’s Farm’s remote location allows couples to fully enjoy live music and evening celebrations, without constantly checking the volume or watching the clock.
What that creates is a much more relaxed atmosphere. Guests can let loose, the band can play properly, and the evening feels exactly as it should: carefree, joyful, and uninterrupted. Which, in our opinion, created some of the best dancefloor shots we’ve ever taken.
7. Freedom to plan a day that feels like you
We love couples who throw away the rule book and plan a day that feels 100% them. We get the distinct impression that Rob and Inez will let you do exactly that.
There’s a real sense of flexibility here, whether that’s in how the spaces are used, the timings of the day, or the overall feel of the celebration. Instead of following a one-size-fits-all schedule, couples are free to create something that feels personal, relaxed, and true to who they are.
When a day isn’t cookie-cutter, the moments feel more genuine, the atmosphere is lighter, and the photos reflect the couple more (because their day reflects them!).
8. A wedding day that flows naturally
All-in-one venues have always been our favourites. Having the ceremony and reception in one place makes the day feel calmer and more joined up. That said, with some venues, there are only one or two spaces in use, which means rooms are constantly being turned around and everyone ends up moving back and forth.
At Hubbard’s Farm, the day feels much more natural. Instead of reusing the same spaces, you move through different parts of the venue as the day unfolds, much like a story would. Each part of the wedding feels distinct, without ever feeling disjointed.
That movement makes a real difference. The day never feels stagnant or stale, guests stay engaged, and everything ticks along nicely.

So that’s our take on Hubbard’s Farm – we’re Lisa and Neil, wedding photographers. We’re all disco, no panic, and we’ve been making intuitive, funny, creative and human photos as a wife and husband duo in and around Norfolk for 400 weddings. If your wedding is at Hubbard’s farm, we’d love to be there.
