Outdoor Wedding Style: 5 styles that suit an Outside Wedding Venue
Planning a Woodland, Meadow, Tipi, Marquee or completely outdoor wedding? How will that impact on the style of your day?
Here are some great ideas to consider!
1. Rustic/Country Style
A rustic style especially suits a woodland or meadow wedding venue. A tipi or a marquee looks great and has everything you could need for an outdoor venue. You can decorate with wild style flowers and foliage accompanied by natural décor such as pinecones and gently lit candles (fake or real). Old repurposed whisky barrels overflowing with flower displays and chunky pottery urns filled with dried flowers and feathers look suitably rustic. Sharing platters of picnic style food or amazing grazing tables work especially well served on rustic wooden tables.
2. Festival Style
A festival style wedding is perfectly suited to a tipi or stretch marquee. All the colours of the rainbow, bright bold signage, colourful bunting, flowers of every colour and shape and food from street food vans fit this brief well. And how about a bit of live music or a band to match your taste and your dancing style, so you probably need a dance floor added! Don’t forget to include some suitable footware such as flip flops in a basket for your guests to use!
3. Boho Style
A boho style suits any wedding that has a relaxed naturalistic slant. Muted earth tones, macrame, natural décor and dried flowers work well here. Pampas grass is still an ongoing trend this coming year! A deconstructed flower arch would look fab as would natural fabrics such as raw linen or hessian draped over trees, furniture or walls along with cane furniture. Flowers, real, dried or a mixture displayed simply in bud vases or milk bottles would look great with this easy going style.
4. Fairytale/Whimsical Style
Any outdoor wedding which has trees and natural surroundings would fit this theme. This quirky style can use the trees and woodland surroundings draped with fabric or flowers. More is more! Go overboard on the details and props and choose the colours you want rather than what is traditional. This could be your chance to wear your fairytale fantasy outfit! And you could have a statement aisle or statement centrepiece in your reception to show your personalities and dreams or maybe even a grand hanging flower and fairy light installation. Think BIG and BOLD!
5. Classic and formal
There is no reason that an outdoor venue can’t have a formal theme. A white marquee, either traditional style, white canvas, pagoda style or stretch marquees are all available. Classic wedding colours with formal flower arrangements can look stunning in a natural setting. (Think Buckingham Palace Garden Party!). Choose your seating and table décor to match with smart cross back chairs, luxuriously dressed tables, chandeliers, stately candlelarbras, gold cutlery and how about some antique luxury armchairs at the ceremony for the wedding couple. Food offerings can range from stunning canapés to a 7 course tasting menu (or both!).
